Hardware Solutions Engineer

What's the role?

We are looking for an expert in all things related to IoT, LoRaWAN, IP Networking, Linux and Android based technology who will provide training to our Support and Onboarding teams along with creating and circulating accompanying process and technical documentation.

You will also act as an escalation point for internal staff and customers on DFS hardware queries. You will also manage hardware returns and act as a point of contact for our third-party provider of logistics services.


You will work closely with Engineering and R&D teams to investigate and develop hardware improvements based on analysis of common issues.


You will be expected to travel to client sites and carry out site surveys and installations. To manage the onsite installations diary and liaise with white glove installation teams to ensure cover, whilst ensuring they are sufficiently trained and proficient in our installation procedures. 

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience with connected IoT devices and familiarity with Radio Frequency solutions.
  • Experience with stock management and logistics.
  • Cross-functional team player. Working closely with Sales, Product, Onboarding and Support
    to ultimately achieve successful delivery of our solutions to a wide range of small to
    enterprise businesses.
  • Management and communication with suppliers and distributors
  • Advanced IT knowledge, able to troubleshoot and identify appropriate solutions on a wide
    range of issues.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand technical problems and explain them using non-technical language.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to work under pressure and in a busy environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Gain detailed knowledge and understanding of existing hardware product designs.
  • Manage hardware shipping and returns.
  • Work with Engineering / Manufacturers to improve product offering.
  • Liaise with App developers to ensure the alignment of hardware, firmware and app software
  • Manage relationship with logistics partner and acting as a point of contact.
  • Manage onsite installations diary and relationship with White Glove installation team.
  • Plan and attend site surveys for Enterprise customers and feed information to Project
    Manager responsible for the client.
  • Attend enterprise client meetings, where required, to address technical questions.
  • Attend onsite installations and training sessions where required.
  • Act as a final escalation point for technical queries, take ownership, and provide solutions.
  • Train colleagues and white glove installation partners on installation procedures and
    produce / review process documentation.
  • Produce technical specification documentation.
  • Share identified best practice with colleagues.
  • Communicate hardware and any related software changes to teams.
  • Constantly review ways of working to improve service delivery.
  • Assist and support.
