Food hygiene rating FAQs
Straight answers to common next-step questions.
Will training automatically improve my food hygiene rating?
No. Training can address staff knowledge and support stronger food safety management, but the rating also considers hygienic handling, cleanliness and condition, and management systems. Start with the findings in your inspection report.
Which food safety course should my team take?
Match training to each person's responsibilities and the gaps identified in your inspection report. Food handlers may need Food Safety Level 2; supervisors may need management-focused training. Review the course details before choosing.
Can I buy training for several employees?
Yes. Choose a course and select the number of learner licences you need in the shop prototype. One licence is needed per learner.
How quickly can my team start?
The proposed Academy journey is designed for you to assign licences after purchase. This prototype does not process purchases or provide live learner access.
What should I look for on my inspection report?
Look for the specific comments under hygienic handling, cleanliness and condition, and management of food safety. Prioritise urgent issues and use the findings to make an action plan.
Can Navitas review my situation with me?
The proposed callback option lets you share the areas you need help with. This prototype form does not send requests yet; a live contact service is needed before launch.
Can I request another inspection?
Your local authority can explain its revisit or re-rating process, requirements and eligibility. Check the rules that apply to your business before applying.
